Today has been very sleepy...but our wildebeasts have been a bit hyper due to being cooped up inside...they HATE venturing out in the wet, cold rain to tinkle or drop a poo or two...it is rather pitiful. Sherman and Bess are lying on our big bed wistfully looking out the window watching the raindrops run down the windowpane..Sherman is also punching me with his wide wet nose and whining to get my attention to rub his speckled belly. Judo, our dog with the copper nose, is tightly curled up on the rug, half of his body under our bed...sshhhh....it is his secret cave space.

Here is a picture of Sherman:

Just thought I would display a wonderful close-up of our super-model dog, Judo( we also call him Doodle).
He has rather delicate features, including lean, more streamlined jowls, fair complexion and marbled eyes. He is a miniature austrailian shepard, weighs about 30 pounds and sports a nub, rather than a tail-even so, his nub is very expressive...he can even wag his nub in tiny circular motions. As you can see he has very minor jowl-splay; however, his jowls do separate enough to show his lovely canines and pearly tiny front teeth when he rolls onto his back. He has the only copper colored nose in the family.

Happy New Year Everyone!! As I write this blog, our two youngest dogs, bess and Sherman are teeth gnashing (kind of like two T-Rexs' playing). Lots of lovely noise emits from the two critters as they clash-gnash their teeth: click-teeth, chortle and elevate to whines, growl-snuffles, and sneezing! Sherman is on his back and Bess is looming over him: the room is filled with a slightly musty wet dog aroma...ahh, the new year is here and so much to look forward to--like bathing these two!

A few more terms for your information:

Erasernub: the dry texture of the lower rim of the dog jowl when the pooch is parched.

Drench: jowls infused with water.

Fluidity: the active streaming of copious amounts of liquid from the drooping crevice-corner of jowls, usually immediately after the dog drinks or arises out of a body of water. When this fluidity state occurs indoors the dog owner must immediately wipe the floor surface to ensure no injury to any unsuspecting person walking along that surface.

Jowlica Erotica

And now for a rather interesting poem I wrote about the sensual aspects of the dog jowl....

the velvet curtain seductively draped –resting,
quietly undulating with each breath.

glistening in the light of moon, fading in the shadow dark,
black brocade embroidered with ivory iridescent silks.

dare to touch this softness, cilia curls, deep sacred forest,
pale curve of this delicious fabric, skirts the opportunity-

this sumptuous, splendid curtain slowly opens

revealing
Brilliant coral pink, fleshy wet warm,
drenched in goodness.
tenderly
he plunges his bone deep into this infinite pink.

Ecstacy

the tail wags
the bone devoured
the hound, satisfied, sleep.s
his velvet (jowl) curtain resting,
quietly undulating with each breath.

Definitions for the Jowl Obsessed

Due to the superfluous nature of jowls they can morph into a variety of conditions and positions:

Jowl-splay: a condition where the jowl is draped and at times envelopes around an object that the beast is grasping with its teeth.
